Subclassifications

Admins can now streamline pay rate management by defining optional subclassifications—also referred to as nicknames—under a primary classification. This eliminates the need to create duplicate pay rates for roles that share compensation but are identified differently across projects or unions.

Key Capabilities:

  • Optional Subclassifications:
Within Company Settings > Payroll > General > Pay Rate Configuration > Classification Configuration, admins can add multiple subclassifications under a single classification. These subclassifications act as aliases to simplify role labeling without altering compensation structure.

  • Unified Pay Rate Logic:
Regardless of which subclassification is selected, the base pay rate of the primary classification will apply—ensuring consistent compensation without redundant configurations.

  • Prevailing Wage Report Display Logic:
Classification labels on reports are prioritized as follows:

    1. If an Alternate Name is present, it takes precedence.

    2. If a Subclassification is selected on a timesheet, it is displayed.

    3. Otherwise, the Classification Name is shown.

  • Mobile App Experience:
Workers selecting their role in the mobile app will see:

    • Only subclassifications if a classification has them (the main classification name is hidden).

    • The classification name itself if no subclassifications are defined.
